The scheme has been under discussion and design for several years’ and centres on producing a multi sports village to accommodate the relocation of Horntye Park Sports Complex, including the cricket and hockey clubs that use the complex, and Hastings United Football Club.
In addition to the construction of the multi sports village at Bulverhythe the scheme includes the development of housing at Horntye Park, Bulverhythe lower tier, where there will also be flood mitigation measures implemented, and Pilot Field. In total some 400 plus new homes will be built.
The overall scheme has a value of £70M in terms of investment into the Hastings area made up of £58M housing and £12M sports facilities.
Both Horntye Park Sports Complex and Hastings United Football Club have well documented problems with their facilities. Horntye Park have facilities that are not suited to being operated profitably whilst Hastings United’s council owned Pilot Field ground has become antiquated and not fit for purpose in the modern day.
